Congratulations to the UHCF 11th Grade Storm on a FANTASTIC effort at the KCU Easter tournament.
To go through the day unbeaten, score 11 goals and concede only 1 is a brilliant achievement for any team, but to beat Onslow the way they did in that final was outstanding. In the 5 to 6 years I’ve been coaching it was probably one of the gutsiest performances I have seen from a group of kids – they didn’t give an inch, but played hard and fair! Well deserved boys on taking the trophies away this year!!! Important to remember too, these are the twelve best 11th Grade teams in the Wellington District!
Something I noticed yesterday was that it was not so much about individual brilliance but more a flowing team game where everyone did their job and contributed to the results. This is evident by the goals being shared around amongst the boys, and obviously the goalie and backs doing their jobs to not let any goals through (other than a dodgy one that we won’t discuss, LOL).
Dawn & Ron – thanks so much for all your help with making it a successful tournament. Also thanks to everyone else for things like treats, muffins, sausages, providing gazebos, and helping with setting up, packing down, etc, and thanks heaps once again to Baz & the Mad Butcher for providing some after match adult treats! Great day had by all – thanks so much for all the positive parent support – this was an awesome result for UH Football.
GO THE STORM!!!!
