Stop Out v Upper Hutt City Football
Women’s Kelly Cup
Hutt Park, Sunday, 18 August 2013
0-3 Win
This weekend the Upper Hutt Women’s 1st team took on Stop Out Women’s Premier League winners in the Kelly Cup.
On a rain soaked field both teams looked to play football at a fast pace. Stop Out were unlucky on a number of occasions in the first half but overall Upper Hutt had the majority of possession and looked the more likely to score.
Today was a chance to give the up and coming players a chance to taste senior football and foot it with the best. Gemma, Amanda and Jemma all made solid efforts throughout the game with little Jemma almost scoring in the later stages of the game.
The ladies were feeling good at half time and knew in order to win we needed to increase the tempo again by 10% and that they did. Two well taken corners by Kelly ended up with two goals to Bria in quick succession and a third finished at the end setup by Jemma and scored by Tara playing against her old team.
Now we look forward to the quarter final stage of the Kelly Cup knowing that a win here will take us to the semi-finals and a loss means the season finally comes to an end.
I’m very proud to have had the opportunity to coach this side in 2013.
Mike
