It was a terrific tussle on Sunday 10 May as sixteen Upper Hutt City Football junior teams took part in the Karori Cup at Karori Park in Wellington.
This is an annual competition featuring UHCF and Waterside Karori’s top teams from 7th through to 14th grade which this year also included a Girls Only game. It was another close contest; Waterside Karori eventually retaining the trophy with nine wins to Upper Hutt’s six. The 7th Grade B team, 8th Grade A team, 9th Grade A team, 10th Grade B team, 12th Grade A team and the Girls Only team won their games; the 12th Grade B team drew with its Karori equivalent. All the games were played in good spirits, with over 100 goals scored and a great afternoon of football for the families.
Congratulations to Waterside Karori FC and a huge thanks for hosting the tournament this year. A shout-out also to Kim Mort, UHCF junior secretary and our coaches and managers for getting our teams together for a tournament on Mother’s Day. We hope the mums enjoyed it!
We look forward to the return fixture in Upper Hutt in 2016.
