Capital Footballs Girls Summer Leagues got under way this weekend with UHCF younger female talent at the forefront and our U8s, U14s and U17s all off to a great start. Coaches Mike and Steve at the helm of our U17s and very pleased with a promising start to the league opener v Nokouts on Saturday morning, the girls rewarded with a draw, 3-3. This team is blessed with attacking creativity and game intelligence that has the potential to be explosive, this will be an exciting group of girls to watch. With Auckland National U17s tournament providing a potential focus, then there is a lot to be gained from the experience.
Andy Masseurs and Lorraine Bowring, coaches of U8s and U14s respectively, also blown away by the on field performances on Sunday. Following the footsteps of NZF philosophy, Andy is keen to develop our younger girls with possession style football, with quick accurate passes, as a unit and as a team. Andy’s knowledgeable and supportive coaching style will no doubt help these players reach their full potential as the season progresses. The girls had a blast and within the spirit of the game mixed it up with the opposition following ample opportunity to hone in on striking ability.
Our U14s, equally getting their season underway with an impressive 3-0 team win supported by a well organised defence on the field and in goal. A proven example of what good team work can achieve, with individual flair….lost count of how many “maradonas” were executed!!, aggressive pro-active passing, supported by strong possession based football with great game awareness to boot.
Here’s looking forward to a great season ahead!
