Hi Girls (and parents/caregivers),
A huge welcome to 2014 with Upper Hutt City Football. Apologies that I have been a little slow of the mark to introduce myself and the opportunities for development ahead of you this year. I have been busy in the background attempting to organise events ahead for our female players, whilst supporting the wider Club. I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible during the season.
If you have not already registered for our Junior Football Grades (Age 4-16 for girls) then please be aware that teams will close early March. More info here
Online registrations for Womens, Girls Only inc U17s are being developed as we speak – please bear with us.

Coaches/Refs
Lots of opportunities for our older girls and adult volunteers to develop their skills this year. Courses start in March and I’m keen to hear from folk that would like to coach our teams and be supported with Coach Development. Course calendar is available for those who ask or on our Facebook page.
Federation Talent Centre
Nominations for trials for girls born in 2003 or before, for Federation Talent Centres, with Capital Football, representing the Greater Wellington Region, will occur towards the end of the season. Be sure to look out for Girls Dev Squad, School Holiday Programmes and the All Star Academy to top up on those skills ahead of selection. Selection is getting harder and harder! Congratulations to all those that represented Capital in 2013 and and to those currently participating in talent centres
Womens (players born 1998 or before)
Get along to Wednesday night training at Maidstone Turf if you are keen. No rush, plenty of age-group opportunities too!
Adults: Womens/Girls Sub Committee
We are an active group and always on the lookout for keen volunteers to ensure our girls are well supported.
BNZ Girls Only Kick It Tournament
Name and year of birth to Matt Harrison and he will co-ord teams this year. He would love to hear from Coaches and Manager too! mattandcarolh@gmail.com. U14s have a Manager already and no doubt will be ahead of the game.
The tournament can accommodate at least two teams per age group from our club (U10s-2004 and younger, U12s-2002 and younger and U14s-2000 and younger) but it’s a popular event, so get in quick if you don’t want to miss out.
Volunteers to help co-ord the day – names to me please and look forward to hearing from you as lots to do to make this another huge success!
More info here.
Girls Only Winter Leagues (Sunday)
Just in case you missed the option to select ‘I want to play girls only’, then registration Forms will be e-mailed to all soon. You can jump on your sporting pulse and select this option if you have not done so already to make admin a little easier for me. You can play mixed as well but just make sure you indicate both on your form and that your Grade Manager is aware of this.
Our U14s (2000 and younger) Team Manager and Coach ‘The WildCats’ is ready and raring to go – Names to me or Linda-Lee lindaleeg@xtra.co.nz, our 14th Grade Manager. A Coach has volunteered to host an U10s (2004 and younger) team – our 10th Grade Manager position is vacant at the moment and keen to hear from anyone that would like this rewarding volunteer junior club committee role.
U17s information will be available soon. This will go ahead if Capital Football receive interest from 6 teams or more. This is for 99, 98 and 97 born players. 00’s can request dispensation through me to Capital Football but they will want to know why you are not playing U14s Girls Only or if a current FTC player, then why not travelling league – you can help here by including a short sentence that I can forward on as a group request.
Mixed Leagues (Saturday)
If you want to play down one year, then make sure you have selected this on your registration form. 16 year olds can also play in 14th Grade.
If you want to trial for Travelling Squads 9-13th Grade or 14th Grade PROMO/JPL, again make sure you have indicated this on your registration form.
If you have not heard from your Grade Manager about trials or general info about the Grade (if they have got that far yet), then strongly recommend that you get in touch with them to confirm they know your interests this year.
Likewise, if you want to form a girls’ only team and play in the non-travelling league then you need to let me know so I can co-ord with those interested and the grade managers concerned. Our 12th Grade Phoenix Flyers no doubt have another exciting year ahead and Donna Springgay is the person to contact – jon@paradise.net.nz, 12th Grade Manager
U17s Youth Tournament – Auckland March 20-23 2014
Training and trials already underway for the last three weeks – Next training on Sunday and a few attending women’s on Wednesday.
Fees apply and fundraising is a must – the team have a fundraiser on Sat 23rd Feb.
Squad announced soon so submit your interest to the Team Manager and Coach ASAP to see if this is a possibility. Manager Marie Wallis mecwallis@xtra.co.nz and Coaches Phil Dobbin and Mike Gibbs michael.gibbs2010@gmail.com .
Hope that this is enough information to help you get off to a flying start this Season. Bear with me, whilst registration forms are being created for Girls Only, Girls Development Squad and Womens. In the meantime, please log back onto Sporting Pulse to add any additional comments you may wish to make after reading this.
