Brian Wood Inducted as Capital Football Life Member

Last night (14 April) at the Capital Football AGM, a very special moment took place. Brian Wood – a name that echoes through our club and beyond – was formally inducted as a Life Member.

Brian’s journey in football with us began in 1977, simply as a dad supporting his young son. What followed was nearly five decades of tireless service, unwavering dedication, solid leadership that has shaped not just our club, but the wider football community across Upper Hutt and beyond.

From coach to chairman, fundraiser to clubroom cleaner—there’s no role Brian hasn’t filled. His fingerprints are on every milestone: the merger that formed Upper Hutt City Football, the move to Harcourt Park, the building of new clubrooms, and the bold leap to Maidstone Park. He’s been the heart of everything, the hand behind our many endeavours, and the constant champion through every challenge.

Brian isn’t just a club man – he’s a community man. His impact has rippled right through our junior, senior and social teams and the very culture of volunteerism that defines our club!

As we mark 100 years of football in Upper Hutt, it is only fitting we honour a man who has given so much.

Brian, your legacy is stitched into our shirts, woven through chapters and chapters of our history and will be carried on for decades to come.

Congratulations, Brian – Thank you for everything. 🧡🖤
